If you live anywhere near LA, you’ve probably stepped outside sometime in the last few days and met the 100+ degree heat with the same thought as the rest of us: “Umm… isn’t summer supposed to be over?”
If you are a Los Angelina and had been planning on a fall engagement party sometime in the very near future, it’s possible you’ll want to rethink that hot apple cider you were going to serve and instead opt for something more cooling. So embrace the weather’s irreverence for seasonal propriety and try out these alternatives:
Strawberry Basil Spa Water
1 cup strawberries, sliced into rounds
¼ cup basil, thinly shredded
Fill pitcher ¾ full with ice, intermittently adding the strawberries and basil as you add the ice. Completely fill with water and refrigerate for two hours before drinking.
Cranberry Orange with Pear Spa Water
2 tablespoons dried cranberries
1 pear, thinly sliced
1 small orange, thinly sliced into rounds
Fill pitcher ¾ full with ice, intermittently adding all the fruit as you add the ice. Completely fill with water and refrigerate for two hours before drinking.
Peach Lime Cooler
1 ripe peach, sliced thinly
Juice of one lime
Optional: 1 teaspoon raw cane sugar
Fill pitcher ¾ full with ice, intermittently adding all ingredients as you add the ice. Completely fill with water and refrigerate for two hours before drinking.
